Our Mission and Approach

Our mission is to use materials and specialized processing technologies for novel product applications. We realized a long time ago that materials and processing lie at the outer bounds of advances in products, and built our specialization in such areas.

Whether it is a cell phone, a nuclear safety part, or a medical device – materials play a vital role, and frequently become the limiting factor in how such products can be designed, and used.

Our know how has resulted in numerous firsts – some of which are listed below:

  • Use of “lead free” and “non-toxic” materials for radiation shielding in medical and industrial applications
  • Silicon Nitride ceramics processing for applications in spinal implants
  • Bonding of Titanium (bone friendly) with Cobalt Chrome (wear resistant) for orthopedics products

If you are seeking to solve a complex problem pertaining to materials and processing you have come to the right place.

Meet the Team

Innolabs team has two principals and numerous associates; Dr. Ashok Khandkar, and Rai Chowdhary.

Dr. Ashok Khandkar brings over 30 years of experience spanning multiple industry groups. His background includes path breaking work in the area of Solid Oxide Fuel Cells, followed by founding of Amedica where he pioneered the application of Silicon Nitride for orthopedic applications. His next venture was BLOXR, where he developed technologies for the world’s first ceramic based (lead free, and non-toxic) radiation shielding products. Dr. Khandkar earned his Ph. D. in Materials Science from Arizona State University.

Rai Chowdhary has over 35 years of experience working across several sectors: automotive,  food products, semi-conductor equipment, chemicals, orthopedics, and more. Rai developed the processing technologies to manufacture radiation shielding materials at lower cost, while affording wide range of applications in medical, and nuclear shielding applications. Earlier, he demonstrated and commercialized technology to bond Titanium and Cobalt Chrome for orthopedic implant applications. Rai earned his Masters of Science in Engineering from Arizona State University, and holds numerous certifications: Six Sigma Black Belt, Quality Auditor, Quality Engineer, and Quality Manager / Operational Excellence.
